Step-by-Step Guide to Master Google Classroom for Students

How to use Google Classroom tutorial

  1. Understanding Google Classroom: Google Classroom is an online platform where you can interact with your teacher and classmates. It’s part of Google’s suite of tools, used to organize assignments, get feedback, and communicate within your classes.
  2. Signing In: To start, go to classroom.google.com or download the Google Classroom app on your smartphone. Sign in with your school or personal Google account.
  3. Joining a Class: Your teacher can add you directly, or you might be asked to join using a class code. If it’s the latter, after signing in, click the ‘+’ button on the top-right and select ‘Join class’ to enter the code provided by your teacher.
  4. Navigating Google Classroom: Once you’re in, you’ll see different tabs:
    • Stream: This is where you’ll find announcements and class discussions.
    • Classwork: Here, you can access assignments and materials. You can view due dates, instructions, and submit your work.
    • People: This shows everyone in your class, including teachers and students.
  5. Handling Assignments: In the ‘Classwork’ tab, click on an assignment to view details. You can submit your work by attaching files from Google Drive, links, or files from your computer. Once done, click ‘Turn in’ to submit your assignment.
  6. Staying Organized: Use the ‘To-do’ list to keep track of your assignments and their due dates. The ‘Calendar’ feature can also help you visualize when assignments are due.
  7. Communicating: Use the ‘Stream’ to ask general questions or comment on announcements. For specific questions on assignments, use the private comment feature when viewing the assignment.
  8. Checking Grades: If your teacher uses the grading feature, you can view your scores and feedback in the ‘Grades’ section.

Remember, Google Classroom is designed to make your schoolwork more manageable. If you’re having trouble, don’t hesitate to ask your teacher for help. For more detailed instructions, you can refer to Google’s student guide on Classroom, and always ensure you respect classroom etiquette and privacy guidelines.
