What is a Modem
Lets say you needed groceries right away, but you had no means of getting to the supermarket. So you ask someone to go for you. The person gets into an Uber-goes to the supermarket by taking the best route to get there avoiding traffic-grabs your groceries-and takes them back to you. The person then washes the fruits and peels what needs peeling so you can start eating right away. The website you would like to visit is your grocery in this example. The person you ask to grab your groceries for you would be your modem. Your modem gets the website requests you type in your browser-takes the best route on the Internet to find that website-then takes the best route to get it back to you so you can view the website. It also converts the data into a form that you can read and understand on your computer the way your friend prepared the grocery for you to eat right away.
